Monthly Update - November 2025
November was a whirlwind of activity. We can’t believe how quickly it flew by! Our technicians refurbished and shipped 588 of computers to 55 schools and organizations and 51 individuals.
At the beginning of the month, we visited TELUS Park in Surrey to film a “Stories from our Donors” video, showcasing their impact in our communities over the last 32 years in partnership with the Computers for Schools Plus program. Stay tuned for that video!
Last year, we partnered with Jat Saini Realty, our very first Secret Santa, to deliver 20 laptops to families for no cost. Recipients were overjoyed to have their laptop fee waived. We helped make their holiday season more merry and bright! This year, we are seeking new Secret Santas to help us support families in BC with a free device. You can donate to our CanadaHelps campaign here. Any amount helps! Every $175 raised covers the cost of refurbishing and shipping a device to a family in need.
Mary-Em was pleased to meet ISED Minister Mélanie Joly at the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade’s Federal Priorities luncheon in the middle of November. It was a great opportunity to speak to her about the importance and impacts of the Computers for Schools Plus program in BC, and share letters of support from our community ahead of a critical year for program funding.
Mary-Em and Keely also attended this year’s Burnaby Business Excellence awards, co-hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade and the City of Burnaby. Congratulations to all of the winners, including this year’s non-profit of the year, The Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby. End Homelessness Burnaby runs a variety of programs in support of unhoused individuals in Burnaby, including Outreach Resource Centres for essential services, the Mobile Showers Program, Burnaby Neighbourhood Pantry, and Extreme Weather Response services.
Connecting Families letters have been mailed to a targeted number of British Columbians identified by the CRA. This program supports Canadians with low-cost internet access and the option to request a low-cost computer or laptop. If you receive your letter, you can apply for a device through Connecting Families here. If you do not have a letter and access code, you can still apply for low-cost internet through the TELUS Internet for Good program, or a device through our Tech for Home. The difference between these three programs is in who qualifies individuals as low income.
As always, thank you to the federal government and our corporate donors for their technology donations. This month we would like to shout out Metro Vancouver, TELUS, YVR, City of Vancouver and Binnie for their continued support, and our new donor, VRIFY Technology Inc.
