Monthly Update - May 2022

Hello, everyone! We hope that you all had a joyous May.

May was another busy month. We were honored to partner with Skills Canada National Competition. As a sponsor and donor for the event, we provided 80 laptops and 40 desktops for six different tech competitions (see photo right) as well as hosting a Try-a-Trade for two days where we taught hundreds of elementary and high school students about the insides of their computers.

We would also like to highlight a donation of 125 computers and 40 LCD from Langara College which will be distributed back to schools and non profits across BC. By seeing future opportunities in used tech, Langara helped save 31,200 KG of fossil fuels, 2860 KG of chemicals, and 650 tons of water! Another special shout out to the University of British Columbia (UBC) for their generous donation of 159 computers. With these donations, we are one step closer to closing the digital divide and delaying electronics from entering the recycling stream.

Interns working on computer refurbishment

We had 4 new interns start with us since April. I had the pleasure of chatting with Naftali about her internship experience. In just this short time she has learned valuable skills such as troubleshooting and refurbishing computers. She has also learned how to check the quality of a computer and put computer parts together.

I would recommend this internship to other students if you want to learn more about tech. You are given the experience and knowledge necessary to succeed in your future career.

Looking towards June, we are excited for our 2022 Donors Recognition event that will be held on June 23, 2022. We can't wait to celebrate our donors for all of their fantastic donations over the years. Laptops are still in high demand. If your company is upgrading your devices now is the perfect time to donate your surplus tech.

Your Donations Matter.

See you in June.
