Who We Are
BC Technology for Learning Society is a registered charity accepting donations of used computers (and other tech devices). Youth on work experience placements are hired to refurbish the computers for distribution back to BC-based non-profits, schools and low-income individuals. 200,000 to date!
Used computer equipment is distributed through a variety of programs:
Industry Canada’s (ISED) Computers for Schools Plus Program;
Government of Canada’s Computers for Schools Intern Program;
TELUS’ for Internet for Good;

Outcomes & Impacts of Our Work
These are just some ways that what we do affects our community within the 3 pillars of sustainability.
Social
Social Outcome
We facilitate digital inclusiveness by helping meet the growing need for computers in classrooms and the community. This provides equal access to markets, services and political, social and physical spaces that are only available online.
Social Impact
It's difficult to measure the impact that having access to a computer has on people's lives. Whether they use it for learning, job searching, communicating with loved ones, or skills building; digital inclusion is extremely important.
Economical
Economical Outcome
By distributing computers at little or no cost, we enable the development of digital skills–providing Canadians with education and skills-building opportunities.
Economical Impact
We have provided hands-on technical employment to hundreds of youths over the years. Our former technicians have gone on to start great careers in the tech industry!
Environmental
Environmental Outcome
By reusing computers and other tech, its useful life is often doubled. This reduces the number of new computers that must be produced to meet the demand.
Environmental Impact
Since 1994, we have refurbished over 200,000 computers and counting! This has had a tremendous impact on preserving our environment.
