Request educational technology for low-income households, students, and individuals on income assistance

TELUS Internet for Good offers subsidized, high-speed Internet to qualified low-income families and seniors, youth aging out of care and people living with disabilities. BC Technology for Learning Society is a proud partner as the provider of refurbished computers.

This program differs from Tech For Home because it includes access to high-speed Internet through TELUS for $10, $20, or $35 per month depending on the speed selected.

Program Information

Eligibility

Program eligibility is determined by TELUS. More information is on their website linked here

Parents can apply to TELUS if you:

  • Receive the maximum Child Care Benefit

  • Can provide a recent Canada Child Benefit (CCB) statement showing your family net income of less than or equal to $34,863

Parents apply here

Persons with Disability can apply if you:

  • Receive the PWD or AISH benefit

  • Have proof of receipt of the PWD or AISH benefit, such as:

    • BC Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction Confirmation of Assistance statement OR Release of Personal Information

    • CRA Statement of Canada Pension Plan Benefit T4A(P)

Youth in Government Care can apply if you:

  • Have been in the child welfare system and can produce a letter of eligibility completed on your behalf by a ministry/agency representative

  • Are between the age of 19 and 26 when you apply.

  • Meet the below province-specific care requirements according to the province in which you were in care

    • You were in permanent or temporary care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development/Delegated Aboriginal Agency OR on a youth agreement as of their 19th birthday OR are eligible for the Agreement with Young Adults Program

Seniors can apply if you:

  • Receive the GIS benefit

  • Can provide your Old Age Security statement, also known as the T4A(OAS), indicating an amount paid to you in box 21 of at least $6500 (net supplements paid).

How do I apply?

Expected process & payment options for your computer

Once approved by TELUS, you will receive an activation code to request your computer. Enter the code in the form found in the green button below. Once received, your access code will be verified and we will contact you within 5 business days to arrange for payment.

We accept E-transfer (preferred) or Credit Card (MasterCard/Visa) over the phone. Debit cards or debit credit cards cannot be processed by phone.

You should only be contacted by email from InternetForGood@ReuseTechBC.ca.

After payment is received your computer is prepared for shipment. This can take up to 1-2 weeks depending on inventory and other requests in the queue. Shipping is done through Canada Post and can take up to an additional week.

After the equipment has shipped you will receive an email with the Canada Post tracking information.

Warranty 

Our 3-month warranty includes machine hardware, software and peripherals provided as part of the placed order. (e.g. hardware damaged during shipping)

Our warranty does not include: "AS-IS" equipment, laptop batteries or battery lifespan, physical damage incurred after successful shipment, water damage, and software-related issues outside what is expected from a computer reseller. (e.g. program compatibility, drivers after reinstall or upgrade, virus infections, or failure to perform routine maintenance, etc.). Our warranty also does not apply to the aesthetics or age of the computer or laptop.
