Monthly Update - April 2026

Welcome back to our Monthly Update! Our first proper month as “ReuseTechBC” has come and gone in a whirlwind!

Volunteer Appreciation Week is in April, and we are incredibly grateful for the number of people who have come in to volunteer with us this month, ensuring that refurbished technology remains available to our clients! Whether you’re with us in the workshop for 4 hours a week or 20 hours a week, we appreciate the time you take out of your day to support your community

We distributed 411 computers and laptops in April, despite being down our usual manpower of a full team of youth interns. Thanks to our 3 interns and volunteers for working hard to keep up with the high demand! You’re all amazing.

For the past 20 years, we have partnered with Skills Canada BC, providing loaned devices for the day of competition. The devices are used in different technical competitions, including IT Network Systems Administration and Web Design and Development. If you need to borrow some tech for a specialty event, hackathon or competition, let us know. We want to help!

We attended the Decoda Literacy Conference once again this year, but in a brand new capacity! On day one of the conference, we hosted a workshop called “Teaching essential computer skills for equity in a digital world”, which was presented to groups of conference attendees rotating through tables for 20-minute sessions. This session was a great success, and we had an awesome time engaging with everyone we met at these sessions, as well as at our booth the next day.

Thanks to our awesome donors in this first stretch of the new fiscal year, including City of Vancouver, Dapper Labs, Cadence Financial Group, Align Construction, and many government departments. As 32-year trusted partners, we appreciate the ongoing support of the federal government with your retired technology. It is critical to our reuse work.

We are gearing up for the annual Donor Recognition Event in June and would love to see you there. Please send us a message if you would like to attend to learn more about how our work impacts British Columbians.

Your Donations Matter.
