Monthly Update - June 2025
Just like that, June has wrapped up, and with it, one of BC Tech for Learning’s busiest seasons! Who are we kidding? It’s always a busy season!
As many already know, we host our annual Donor Recognition Event in June to highlight donors and partners who have gone above and beyond with their support of the organization. We were pleased to present 5 awards this year to 5 donors in attendance.
Emily Carr University - Partners In Education Award
Deloitte Canada - Everyday Impact Award
TeeKay Shipping - Environmental Sustainability Award
Canada Revenue Agency - Give Where You Live Award
YVR Airport - Connecting Canadians Award
Our greatest thanks to our donors, new and old, who have supported us for 3 decades. We would be nowhere without your donations. If you would like to take your support one step further, please consider making our Society one of the top three charities that receive your financial support. Donations to BC Tech qualify for charitable tax receipts, and they can be made here. If you are interested in discussing a larger impact, we would be happy to discuss sponsorship or partnership opportunities.
Each year, an article is published in Business in Vancouver to highlight our event and award winners. Keep an eye out for that in the coming week.
June marked the end of Ryan and Nilofar’s internship, and we wish them well with their future endeavours as they embark on the next phase of their careers. It's a tough job market out there right now, and if you have opportunities for junior technicians who have 6 solid months of hardware repair, inventory management and team building, let us know!
We capped the month off with our staff & volunteer “barbecue” and AGM. This year’s barbecue looked a bit different than years past as the weather kept us from our usual gathering at Burnaby Lake Park. Instead, we enjoyed tasty Vietnamese food inside, and our interns ended the day with a game of Uno.
The Board of Directors held their annual general meeting; thanks to our Chair Nancy Grenier, Vice Chair Ted Pennell, Secretary - Treasurer Harry Johal, and directors at large, Harv Aujula, Lisa Bomen, Stephanie Chan, Doug Kinsey, Mark Taylor, Peter Smailes, and Peter Vogel for your leadership and continued support.
Coming up, BC Tech’s Summer Sale on Featured Inventory has officially kicked off! Jump in on the fun. As a special note: if you or someone you know is from an organization outside of the Lower Mainland who has never made a technology request from BC Tech before, that organization is eligible to enter a lottery to receive 5 free laptops and free shipping. Head over to Featured Inventory for more information on how it works.
Lastly, our friends at Vantage Point are conducting a survey on the 2025 State of BC’s Non-Profit Sector Survey - if you are part of our non-profit audience, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of BC’s non-profit sector.
By sharing your organization’s experiences, you’re helping build a stronger, more informed foundation for advocacy, funding, and system-wide planning across the province. The survey takes just 20 minutes and is open until July 18, 2025. Take the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SOTS2025
Enjoy a safe and relaxing summer!
